On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, 38 students from the EDU 201 Introduction to Elementary Education classes gathered together to talk with teachers who have been in the field for a while. It was a time for students to ask these teacher about working in the education field, partnering with parents, and they also asked about how some students can just brighten a teacher’s day. There was great Chinese cuisine, which everyone enjoyed eating while they got to hear about all the perks and challenges of being a teacher. On the way in, students were able to write down one question that had in mind for the teachers to answer. The first 25 students to come and sign in got to take home a teacher tote bag that had teacher essentials such as decorative pencils, roll of stickers, a teacher keychain, and some emoji magnets. Everyone who attended really enjoyed themselves, the food, and the guest speakers. This event was organized by Dr. Corinne Kindzierski as part of the EDU 201 Learning Communities.
